Dr. David B. Ashley, the eighth president of UNLV, is an internationally recognized construction engineer and researcher. His work on major projects includes the Panama Canal expansion and the replacement of the eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
President Ashley has held academic and leadership positions at the University of California’s Merced and Berkeley campuses; and at the Ohio State University; the University of Texas at Austin; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Since joining UNLV in 2006, President Ashley has worked to advance the university by strengthening research, revamping student curriculum, and developing academic and industry partnerships within the region and throughout the world.
