The Institutional Development Grant

The Institutional Development Grant (IDG) is designed to fund projects that are institutional priorities for educational and research advancement.

2008-2009 Awards
In January 2007, the call for proposals focused on diversity and inclusion initiatives. Twenty-eight proposals with funding requests totaling more than $1 million were submitted. The proposals were so strong and timely that an additional $150,000 was added to the program, funding the initiatives at a full $300,000. The 10 winning proposals were categorized by project theme and organized into two groups to facilitate collaboration across multiple disciplines. The two groups are titled:

  1. Research Center for the Study of Race, Class and Social Justice
  2. Institute for the Multicultural Education and Diversity

Each group will receive $150,000. The funding provides the resources to develop the center and institute, which will also require the approval of the NSHE Board of Regents to be formally established. Members of each program are expected to build their projects into model programs for inquiry, scholarship, education, training, outreach, and service. Each group has also been challenged to re-evaluate their original proposals, determine how they fit into the goals of the center or institute and recruit colleagues to join their efforts.
